But are the chassy and suspension layout the same? Or are they significantly different? Since the 1800 is so rare, is it possible to convert the Mexico to 1800 standards? If this is probable, how difficult is this task? Thanks again.

An RS1800 is a Mexico with the BDA engine. Both the same apart from that. Good luck in your hunt. BTW, they never made a LHD Mexico.Comment

Really?! No LHD Mexico... that sucks. So I'm left with only the 1800s? Also, what is meant by turning a Mex into Grp4 specs? Thanks again, you guys are very helpful.

Wouldn't you be better off buying a ready done shell these can be ordered with all the fabricating done and as all the nice 2-Dr saloons are being consumed by the english at the moment ought to be easy enough to get one in LHD format, certainly cheaper than ruining a very very rare piece of kit like the RS 18.
Getting hold of a decent 5-Linked axle might be less straightforward and some of the other stuff, but if money's no object then I'm sure a scout around EBay will eventually turn up all the goodies, adjustable TCA's nice BDA etc etc
