I have been informed that the Blackwall Tunnel has finally turned on its speed cameras (12th Jan 2007). The cameras have been fitted for many years but were not actually switched on till midnight last night. You cannot see the cameras, they are not sign posted, they are not yellow and they work like the specs system monitoring average speed. These cameras work both Northbound and Southbound and will be on 24hrs.
The strangest thing that I have been told is that you wont generate points on your license and come with an automatic fixed penalty of £100. The reason for this is that they are run by Transport for London..another one of our mate Ken's great ideas.
