      HI,

      Fight against it for our human rights or we won't have any! If enough vote against it, they will have to listen. Look at how the support is growing on the website.

            I've signed it as well. I'm sure that if 'the tossers at No.10' 's plans crystalise any further on this issue there will be a huge outcry in respect of our individual rights not to be tracked, monitored or spied upon.

                    Hi,
                    I was reading on one thread on our forum recently that some members were getting peed off with the way this country is going. It is for issues like road pricing and the nanny state, which is making us all peed off. I have never seen so many legislations introduced. We are all getting very passive about these issues and are allowing them to be passed through without any fighting for what we believe is reasonable and right. Once they are here they are difficult to get rid of.

                    As well as it being a spy in the sky and a tax on the less well off, I am concerned that we have already lost the majority of manufacturing in this country and now their intention is to remove vehicles off the roads, how on earth is our country going to run without people freely moving about to go about their businesses, it will surely wreck the country not only for us, but our kids as well.

                    This is a very easy way to vote, just do it and feel you’ve done your bit.

                      Hi,
                      I thought I would wake up this thread in case anyone has missed this. Perhaps someone in the RS Owners Club could let them know as well, that’s if they don’t know already. Lets do our best to stop it by voting on the link below.

                      I have added some extra info.

                      The government are keen to press ahead with the introduction of Road Pricing, which will mean you having to purchase a tracking device (around £200) for your car and being committed to pay a monthly bill to use it. A cost would start at 2p per mile on quiet roads outside rush hours, to £1.34 per mile on the busiest roads during rush hours.

                      Recently the BBC carried out a study over a month, and the monthly bills were as follows:

                      Rural Florist was the lowest at £28;
                      Delivery Driver £194;
                      Non-working Mother who was on the school run £86.

                      In addition to this excessive charge or tax, your tracking device will be telling someone where you are at all times. They will also know the speed you have been doing, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a Notification of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill. You may be overtaking a car and spot a dangerous situation ahead and want to accelerate quickly to avoid an accident, what happens then? Would a fine make you hesitate next time?

                      There are no plans to improve public transport or reduce ticket prices as a way of encouraging us off the roads; instead they put the prices up!

                      To most of us cars have become an essential part of our lives allowing us freedom to make a living, move around, go about our business, and to keep in touch with relatives and friends. If you enjoy your freedom, stop this constant bashing of road users and sign the petition on the government’s new website, then pass it on.

                      REMEMBER ROAD PRICING HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO GET MOTORIST’S OFF THE ROAD SO THAT MEANS IT’S GOING TO HURT!

                      To sign up to the petition click the link here, it’s easy enough to do (closes 20 February 2007):

                        Road Pricing is nothing more than a Stealth Tax - its never gonna be cancelled

                        Sorry mate but I am proud to admit I did not vote Labour in the last or ANY previous elections

                        Those who did are obviously happy and proud to know a large number of stealth taxes have been introduced by Labour

                        May I ask those who are not happy with Labours Stealth taxes and Road Pricing Policy

                        Q. Did U vote labour ? (honest answers please)

                        A. I didnt

                        Alledgedly less than 50% of the country voted at the last election - Voting should be mandatory (even if 1 of the boxes is "couldnt give a sh*t")

                        A certain "Nationalist" party has over 120 MEP's now - I wonder why

                        Country gone to the Dogs (sorry Dogs its only a saying)

                        Rant Over - lol

                            Hi,
                            Yes I have to admit I did vote for the Labour party to get them in, but I originally voted Conservative and they ended up being in for far too long. The Conservatives had become insensitive, pushing up taxes and introducing the poll tax etc. They had lost the plot for what the public really wanted.

                            Labour and John Smith (the then leader of the party) offered us new hope with something better, but he unfortunately died and with this new hope that had been created, we felt Tony Blair would be second best to carry it forward. There was a genuine feel good factor about them.

                            After Conservatives and now with Labour, I have come to the conclusion that any party that gets into government, can tire out and lose track over a long length of time. I feel that in the end they are all bad as each other, and don’t really know who I would vote for next time.

                            Having said this, Labour have set this website up for us to vote against any issue like this. If we are negative and we don’t vote against these, we will just be seen as being disinterested in the subject and it will end up making it plain sailing for them to pass these unfair proposals.

                            CheeRS,
