  • Which is the preferred Escort Sport.

Going though the picture gallery I see quite a few people on this board have owned a 1300 Sport.
What did they think of it as compared to a 1600 sport?
I've always loved the 1600 and never had a 1300 but now may have the chance to change that.

    Just wanting to canvass opinion.

cant comment on owning either but used to work on them, its just a power thing imo, both great cars with a reliable power plant etc, great fun

1300 sport was best imo, had three 1300's and two 1600's, the 1300's revved nicely although they were slower than the 1600's,

      good luck with your choice,

i find that a quiet female escort is the best, lol...

          last time i saw a 1300 sport it'd only got 400 miles on't clock.
(yellow) & mint. went down south a couple of years ago !

the's also a 1600 sport near by with only 37,000 on't clock. also mint..
(in't works team, diamond white, like)...

          well i'd av either !

i had the 1300 and the 1600 GT engine in mine, and i prefered the 1600, purely because it had a bit more poke. however the 1300 wasnt far behind in terms of power and it used to quite happily see 7000 RPM on daily basis driving it around.

I had a 1600 sport myself.Great car fun to drive ,cheap insurance for an early 20's guy.Only bad point was weak gearbox ,snapped main shaft when I dropped the clutch and had a 16 stone mate sat in the back, but only cost £5.00 for a replacement box and 1 hour to fit it ,how things have changed eh !

Had both the 1300 sport and the 1600 sport. Liked the 1300 better as it just seemed more fun and no matter how hard I tried, the engine just wouldn't die The 1600 lasted me 2 weeks before letting go.
