I'm trying to find the history of POO 493R. Originally a works Mexico built as a recce car & used in the Ford Rally school with John Taylor. Still being used competively today although reshelled as a big winged, Vauxhall powered tarmac car on the Welsh circuit. The current driver has owned the car for nearly 20yrs & bought it in its original form.
I'd be pleased to have any info from anybody for the missing years.

    Hi chris,
that didnt take you long !!!
Gent's, be warned, here we have a rally co driver of some standing who also rallies a three wheeler, AKA the Trotter clan.
generally well known for his thriftiness, Chris P 1 told his two young sons that the ice cream van only sold ice cream when the siren WAS NOT playing tunes

welcome aboard, im sure you will get some help on here, god knows some of them need help themselves.

Dave Pop, Darren, mex, etc etc
you any info to hand ref 493R ?

I think this is the car I looked at in the early 80's in Netheravon Wiltshire owned by a Gary Davis not sure where he got it from,it was his daily driver.
It then ended up in Salisbury Wiltshire not sure who owned it but saw it outside his house being prepared for rallying.

Sounds like the car. My mate, the current owner, certainly bought it from someone in that area. If you have a contact in the area I'd be pleased to hear about them.

                Hi,

here's an article from the Dutch "Autorevue" magazine from july 1977.
There are 3 Escorts in the photos: POD491R (which might be POO but it's def. a D not an O; also on one pic the 4 is missing!), POO49?? and POO493R .

The scans are downsized, if you want the original scan (some Mb's) then let me know.

                Leon.
