I live about 40 mile from Carlisle , there are some really nice areas but also like most cities some dodgy areas as well . I think the estate that springs to mind is 'The Raffles Estate' , always seems to be a bit of bother in there but no doubt there are good people in that estate as well. Some nice Victorian houses heading out towards Durdar (racecourse area). The area that got flooded was the Warwick Road area coming in from the M6 where the football ground is, again some nice houses but I think they have been giving out the sandbags again in Carlisle this week due to the torrential rain we have had (180mm in a couple of days) .
This highlights the flood areas

ah....... my home town. great place to live. handy for travelling around. newcastle 50 mins. glasgow an hour. manchester hour and a half. lake district right on your door step. good shopping centres, busy nightlife, quite suburbs. great rallys in keilder forest . hardly any immigrants. great schools/colleges.
floods were bad but the council have just spent 12 million on a new flood defence system. seems to of worked as we have had as much rain in the last 2 weeks as when it flooded 2 yrs ago. house insurance has not been affected due to the last floods.
crimes are not bad. never here of murders or rapes unlike some big citys. most areas are good. the raffles estate has now been bull-dozed and re-built all new. there is only one area i would not live in, as it has become a bit run down. and not forgetting you have the mighty carlisle united to follow. any areas your looking at let me know.
the house behind my mex in the sig has just gone for sale. 3 bed semi, extension, garage and gardens, immaculate in and out for 150k.😯
