Looking into getting the manifold and exhaust systems remanufactured for RS1800s. ( exact copy )

I would of thought the rear box etc is similar let me know if so

would like the opinions from you what would your choice of material be if you had the choice, bearing in mind these would have to sell rather than being left about for some time.

    either mild steel or stainless.

I know what i would use.

    Cheers Dave

Dave from what I remember the exhaust system was the same as the mk1 mex twink & rs1600.... just the rear silencer hanger was different for the 1800.

Would there be a big demand for standard manifolds, how do they differ from the rs1600.
      Mark....

Did the exhaust manifold 10 years ago I did put a advert in rallye news asking if anyone needed one,but only a couple interested partys plus they did not want to pay what was then £180
I have a manifold and its at a exhaust place one was made for a mate last year but i think he was not happy with the join were 4 go's 1.
I think the price was £250 now.

Just putting the feelers out d, as mark said you can get round by using mk1 stuff, but had a few enquiries tho as some peeps wanted proper stuff, well everyone knows thats not going to happen.
The oppotunity has arisen to do this but if theres no takers its really not worth it.
The thing is theres only a few cars to start with, so making large batches to save money is pointless. Catch 22 situation

                  RS1800 Manifold And System

                  Dave

I would be interested in two manifolds and systems, depending on price (Possibly more).
I would go for stainless as it can be coated to suit the purist's if people want a non-shinny system and manifold.
I did try the company the AVOC used several years ago but nothing ever come of it.
The standard manifold needs a bracket near the rear of the gearbox(I have never seen one on a standard car, but I stand corrected) to stop the manifold from fracturing.

                    Thanks Steve, all noted.

Will find out costs when I can gather more interest/numbers

That manifold is a terrible design imo

                    cheers Dave

                      Dave,
I have recently had the same debate with the RS16i boys , trying to get a mild steel replica of the genuine 16i system made (which is different to all other escorts). Have located a company that is willing to make a small batch (downpipes, centre section and back box) but trying to get people to commit is hard work.

Best of luck , have you asked the RSOC MK2 reg' to help
