  • No Win No Fee - Reccomendations Please

My mother (in 70's) is in hospital with a broken ankle and broken finger on right hand

3 hours in surgery to plate up her ankle and set her finger

Next 3 -5 days in hospital

She tripped on an insecure paving slab whilst shopping in West Bromwich

We have taken pics and video of slab before council "miraculously" repair pavement

Slab is like a seesaw due to no sub base to sit slab evenly

I need a good legal firm who will do the job properly and make Sandwell Council realise the error of their ways in keeping public pavements in such a poor state of disrepair !!

    Thanx for replies

How high was the slab raised?? My dad tripped over one of these in Newark earlier this year. Was told by the legal people that if the raised/sunken part of the pavement/slab is less that 2" then there is no case to fight. We couldn't do anything as the raised part of the pavement was "Just" under the 2".

Just be careful who you select Dave, a friend, had a accident at work, not his fault, mechanical failure of certain item, the no win no fee claim went on for a long time, wishes they were never involved etc. Over 18 months of legal ranting.

sorry to hear about your mother dave hope she makes a speedy recovery, would it not be better to get a decent lawyer as i have heard bad reports from people who dealt with these cowboys before .pats brother in law fell from four story building when a scaffold collapsed and the lawyers ended up getting most of his payout mate.good luck with whatever you do anyway

Sorry to hear about you gran Dave.
Hope i didnt phone at a bad time today.

Had a couple of claims myself always used a trusted
lawyer instead of these ambulance chasers.

That's really bad Dave, hope she gets better soon

I think long legal wranglings are par for the course with these things, suggest you go back and take another picture with a tape measure by the side of the uplifted slab to illustrate how bad the problem is. My Dad caught his hand in the butcher's front door (bloody big heavy affair with no dampner on it) in high wind a few years ago, it mulched two fingers severing both tendons and he needed an operation to fix it. He still has no movement really in those two digits and no feeling. He used an outfit off the TV - not sure which one - but it took 18 months and he got about £4k out of them. I've heard that 'Injury Lawyers 4U' are OK - give them a call and see what they say !

big and xxx to mumma custom, hope your feeling better soon.

yeah u gotta be carefull with these blood suckers dave or you can end up with nowt, i think the advert for personal injury lawyers for you on the tv say u get 100 % of the compo and they recover all costs from the other party but as my solicter pointed out to me if u lose you still have to pay the other persons cost so they advise taking out an insurance premium to cover this but you would get this back if you won.

Will pass on your thought to my mom when visiting tomorrow

She looked a lot better today

Luckily I have had no prior dealing with P.I. (personal injury) so all the advise is noted - thanx
