  • Is it too cold to spray a car in primer?

Hello all, long time no speak...

Was just wondering if it is too cold to spray a car in barcoat and primer at the moment? As the MK1 is almost ready for that, and I have to go away with work for 5 weeks next week and don't want the car getting any more surface rust if at all possible

    Thanks

try and get some heat in the garage and give it light coats so it does'nt run.

Thanks mate, but I think I may have to just wait until after winter now, as it will be left in the garage anyway....bloody weather!

Would not be too bad, but have to go away with work until Xmas on Weds

It is not bare metal, just sanded down with a few little bits of bare metal...so hopefully it should be ok, besides now have too much to do today! Guess it will just have to wait...bloody work!

Out of interest, what do you do that takes you away for 5 weeks Lee ?

Thought my week in China was bad enough - really not looking forward to that !

Spray it with "Weld Thru" galv primer

Good quality galv neutralises rust and it can easily be primed/painted over later

I wouldnt leave bare metal over the winter

                        That's a worryingingly restrained description........
