  • Anyone Know the right answer to this ?

I know Mk2 Escorts where announced in Jan 1975 but does anyone know when the first hit the road ?

Pops where on the road in July 75 but whats about the RS models, the reason I ask is this car if the tags are right was in the first 1030 Rs's ever produced

The numbers at the end of the chassis number are the number produced in the month/year denoted by the 2 letters before the numbers

My chassis ends UR00304 U=Oct R=1978 00304=the 304th Ford manufactured in that month (Not just RS's)

Bri yours was the 1030th built in the month/year within your chassis number

If I remember right Kels car is number 11 (lowest I've seen)

Has anyone on here got a single figure chassis number ?

I think that some RS 1800s and certainly the early works cars were 75 registered.

The first MK II RS2000s were also built in 1975.

the earliest RS1800 on my records was a March 1975 car that was regestered on the road 13/05/1975, the last numbers of the chassis number denote the engine number to that particular car.

In the case of some RS1800s the Mexico engine number or BDA engine number?

early BBAT cars would have the crossflow 1600 engine number code on the chassis plate, a couple also had the 1600 pinto number like all the GCAT cars. No BDA 75,76 or HRE77 numbers were on the chassis plates.
