What is the best high torque starter motor for a rs2000 mine keeps clicking when trying to start it, i have had it checked and tested and everything seems to work fine but when i refitted it still clicks, if i tap it with a hamer it works okay any ideas thanks.

I can't remember if the RS2000 starter is the pre-engaged type (I'm thinking it must be..) If it's not, you need to lubricate the spiral that the pinion slides up. If it is a pre-engaged type that doesn't apply, and I'd be guessing at a bad connection somewhere (even though the hammer routine shouldn't help if it's that) maybe on the earth to the block/battery?

      Hi there,

I dont get on here very often these days, few do from what I gather…
Just in case you are still looking for an answer, well, a mate of mine went for a gear reduction type, and they work well apparently.
There is a high-torque version which was fitted to the 2L Sierra, it has a smaller diameter body than than the original starter but has a turning power of 1.4 kW, compared to the RS item at 0.8 kW, some of the old-fashioned (standard diameter) units are rated at 1.1 kW but the sierra item is the best compromise IMO.

Those high-torque starters are great, but they do not have the connection for the resistance-wire-bypass-for-the-ignition.
