  • Nice sight today!

At Lochgilphead in Argyll, was walking along the A83 this morning, when along happened three Mk2 Escorts, heading towards Inveraray. A Mexico (I think) in front, followed by an RS2000, with the rear brought up by an RS1800 (!), of all things. Not at all what I expected to see in such a comparatively remote area! Made my day.

Nice surprise ! You don't see them much these days.

I was only thinking a few days ago how different it was in the 1980's, then I realized that's 40 years ago !
What I had cast my mind back to was, the dark blue RS3100 that was always in the public car park in Alexandra Street, Southend on Sea & the black (or midnight blue) Mk2 RS2000 that was, during office hours, always in the North Road car park opposite the Cricketers Pub on the A13, Westcliff. Different times indeed.

Even back the, an RS1800 was a rare sight, of course. When you see a Mk2 these days, what amazes me is how small they seem, but they weren't a small car back in the day...
