  • I,d like to have an adult conversation...

about this concours thing, IMO its should about how clean the car is, full stop, Worthers has three gp1 ford modifications, suspension, carbs, fuel tank and a choice of three steering wheels, these mods are items that could have been "dealer fit" not necessarily "factory fit". I,m assuming ths is going to work against me ??surely the cleaniness and straightness is more important than ill-fitting and ripply panels ??,maybe its me ?? thats why, a couple of weeks ago i came up with my class, period enhanced class, lol because from what i saw at the weekend, i personally didn,t agree with certain things, question, does ownership, mileage, history come into it ??, does original panels come into it ??, anyone know a good gp4 builder !!!

        Ian,

Factory options are fine , as for dealer options, I'm not sure.

I'm trying to think of any cars that have entered standard class, with dealer options fitted ?????

ALL Classes of Concours are judged on cleanliness

Standard Class - If a car is restored it MUST be sympathetically restored to as near "Factory Finish" as possible to gain maximum available points.

Owners interpretation of what they think FF was can lose points even if today's finish is superior to FF (hence the term "Toooo Shinnneeeey")

Example :- A nice clean unscratched A1+ condition (original plastic) air box will win everytime against a minter than mint painted plastic airbox !

FF was never a painted airbox

Above is only one example but I hope you get the idea !!

Modified Class - Anything goes !

          ********************************************

IMHO GP1 parts IDF's etc when fitted make a car "Modified"

As far as I know NO MKII RS ever came down the production line (ie. Factory Fit Options) with GP1 bits attached.

All GP1 and Series-X options were fitted "off" the production line either by FORD's own engineers or main dealers and cannot be classed as FF.

No but the condition and fit are the areas judged and if replaced the correct methods have been used ie. spot welded and not MIG'ed on etc etc

                  Example of a judging sheet

The only diference for standard class is
Glasswork is 10 for original fitment, and 10 for condition & cleanliness.
40 point at the end are for originality, not modifications.

But make the decision - Standard or Modified and then go for it !
