who has one in their car & what size is it? i know i should have a few of them by now for peace of mind

  • #2
totally agree, i had one lost to a fire, if i would of had a fire extinguisher it would of been a different matter.

i carry one under the seat, dont know what size but it fits there, i wrap it in foam to stop it from sliding around.

I got one from Burtons with 2 nozzels and 2 pull cables. It mounts in
front of passenger set with a bracket and 2 clamps. Think it cost £100.

Have 2 handhelds in the car: a 4kg Halon (yes the old good stuff) and a 6 kg powder if no.1 should fail ...

i have a 2kg tripple F ..... water based foam, hand held secured infront of drivers seat cross member, bolted thro floor, and 1.5kg dry powder on passenger side incase of electrical fire....cant use FFF as water based

might seem a lot but i once stumbled across a car crash where car was smoldering then caught fire and boy did it go quick....

you can use a water based extinguisher on car electrics, its only 12V. the issue with water is the risk of electricuting yourself once you stand in the puddle, not a great worry with a car battery. may blow a fuse??

can some one do this, as an experiment??
