I not a BMW fan either, probably because of the bad drivers that own them. If you get cut up or see some one hogging the outside lane guarantee it will be a Beemer.
Was on the cusp of buying a 4WD - an XC90 or maybe a Range Rover Sport, Lexus etc. but then I drove a 525i M Sport and was blown away by the handling and the general feel of the car. I've never had a BMW before so I thought I would give it a go and the 530i promises to be even better than the 525i that I test drove.
There a lovely car Arron, I've bought a sold quite few over the last couple of years, but I hope you don't mind me asking, wouldn't you be better of with the 530d?? The diesels actually quicker (mid-range, where you need it), more economical, service intervals are longer, will hold it's value a lot better and there only about £500 more than the equivalent petrol!
The 3.0 petrols a good engine, but i've just been running a 330 Ci Sport Auto and you have to drive them quite hard to get the thing moving, where as there's loads of low down torque with the diesel. (in my humble opinion)!! Or for 3 grand more you could have the daddy of all diesels - 535d, twin turbo's 260 bhp and the most complete car i've driven this year!! IMO....

Not sure why I always plump for petrol but I do ! I must admit that I did not even stop to consider the diesel version - I suppose it's a misconception I have of the old oil burners.
I'll probably only keep it 2 years and then get something different so maybe I'll look at diesel power again then.
Arron you should, IMO the diesel is more driveable, and the torque is awesome, i,d almost go as far as to say, more fun, i,m assuming the proper petrol one (M5) was far too much

Oh just a bit Ian, the 530i M Sport worked out at around £38k, they had a second hand M5 (new shape) in the showroom - not sure how many miles etc. but it was £56k ! New ones are a shade over £60k with a 12 month wait.
