  • Leather or not

As most people know the mechanical side of Worthers is nearing completion, albeit not running yet, so i,m starting to think about the interior. Its fair to say that because the car has done so little miles the interior is very very nice, having said that, i am serioulsy considering a good quality leather , my idea is to retain all the vinyl and piping and replace the facings only with leather. Retain the original look stitching. It appears from talking to different people that depending on what day and what way the wind is blowing and where i position my nose (think about it) it may be considered coucours, it may be considered modified concours, it may be considered neither of them !!. I,m considering entering it into a new class, My class, Period Enhanced Class !!lol what do you think ??. I like leather, i think it makes the interior look very smart, consider the colour of the car with the bronze glass and brown leather, you may see what i can see.....maybe not !!. At the end of the day, as you are all bown to say, its your car, do what you want, i would value a different take on the matter and as always your opinions will be viewed and absorbed. But probably not acted upon !!

    Seats

IMO if you go with leather use another set of seats. It would be a shame to replace decent original beta cloth.

if you are goin 2 entre say expert standard old skool then keep the beta cloth and because everything else has been done 2 standard, if you start modin bits now, worther wont b Modified enough for the Modified class and non totaly standard for the standard class, if that makes sense, be silly 2 lose point on stuff like that but that only matters if your doin rsoc concourse, if its autoglym it doesnt really matter

Seriously, I think Leather would be a travesty for such a car, but as you say - it's your car !

That brown beta I bought was absolutely **** on and I have to say it looks the dogs danglies on my seats, I think there is still some at Retrosport. Yes it is not original, it's a replica but I can't tell the difference between my front and rear seats (only had the fronts recovered and that was almost £1000 including buying the material).

Whatever way you go, if you want the best trimmer in the world, I know him so give me a call and I will put you in touch with him. You might also want to consider getting the trimmer to 'freshen' your existing seats up - if the fabric is not worn or too badly stretched then he could re-drape the seats and they should look very good. Then, if you really must have leather, go with Joe's suggestion and have another pair of seats re-trimmed for Sunday best.

do what u want mate, deepest has some nice leather in his car, his is modified concourse.

if you are happy with the state of your seats as they are, i'd just use them and spend your money elsewhere

                  oem+

going accordingly to the rest of the car you may aswell stick with bta cloth.

i mean, if youve spent all that time and effort getting the rear pillar trim to the exact shade of beige that it come out of the factory with then you may aswell carry that theme on.

mint leather is lovely to look at, but cloth all the way for me too. If i bought another escort cos it would be cloth trim.

leather looks nice, but i'd never have another car with leather interior, too hot in summer, too cold in winter, makes you sweat any time of year, slippery too!! i'd stick to nice tight beta any day, do the interior that nice rare biege colour, forget dog shit brown
