    Insurance companies taking the ****?

Thought I would post this up for all to see……..
I was with AON for the last 12 months, they were unbeatable when I was looking around prior to picking up OFE.

Spent some time searching the various boards to see who was recommending who, I then called them all for quote………busy boy at work!
I realise insurance quotes depend on a great many variables, however this is pushing it a little far………
Here are the results, “Taking the ****” to “Taking my cash”.

Quote was for: RS 2000, modifications disclosed, agreed value, other ½ on the policy, in a garage, 1 years no claims (on this policy), other car disclosed, getting near 40yrs & £100 excess.

    Footman James £974.88

    Endsleigh £927.28

    Performance Direct £806 (£250 excess)

    HIC (Highway Classic) £396

    Boncaster/RSOC
    Specialist Car Division £248.00

    AON (1st quote) £238.50 (£60 increase!)

Adrian Flux Said the best they could do was £200

CIC Said they could not beat the best quote I had at the time (£141), not sure how they knew that as he did not even ask where I lived, age and car details only!!!!!

    Heritage £163.28

    MCE £150.45 (mceclassiccars.com)

    Lancaster Insurance £141.15 - Lancaster via Confused.com £256.65?

Finally called AON back who gave me a quote for £135………….nice folks!!!
The RSOC weren’t interested in trying to match the quote, and they are still sending reminders in the post!!!!

    Pays to call around!!!

except in your case it looks like it pays to NOT call around and to just stay with whoever you've got!

Was the initial aim to get something less than £140?

Would be interesting to repeat the exercise a few days later with a different name just to see if the rates are table-calculated or drawn out of a hat!

BTW, out of interest, are all of the figures quoted for the same policy? (TP? / TPF&T? / FC?) and the same excess?

you bet ya ! but the rsoc scheme allows for upto stage 1 tuning... what ever that may be on our cars, fev is insured as a group 1 car as some of the x pack kit was fitted at the supplying dealer.

Andrew, the aim was to beat AON or at least get something close to last years premium, the renewal was £60 ish dearer and I was rather put out at that. The £141 quote was one of the last I was quoted, (it was an online quote that I then followed up with a telephone call to confirm). So I called AON for a statement of NCB and to see if they would price match, they did better than that

The quote was like for like, I told them what I had and what I wanted.
All the figures above are for an identical policy.

I'm not on the committee for the rsoc, just like any other member.
