Serious RSOC Question !!!!!!

Such good timing , my renewal for the RSOC is due this month. I have been to a few shows this year and apart form the crack with the lads the shows have been sh*t . Best bit is the drive there and the drive home .
Personally I put it down to this , I have been in the club for 18 years and theres nothing new to see , perhaps we hate to admit it but maybe we are just bored with the RS scene. You can't recapture what we had 20 years ago and I think we have to live with it or leave it.

I'll be doing National Day and then thats it for me.

I personally think that it would help if the registrar was seen to be at more shows and there wasn't as much nit picking about this being the wrong colour, that being the wrong colour, thats got a left hand drive front inner wing on etc. They should just appreciate the cars for what they are as they are all getting old and parts are hard to find so it would help if there was a possiblility of the club looking into remanufacturing spares for the old skool cars. Concourse judging should be relaxed as it is taken way too seriously and consequently costs a fortune to do. Surely its up to the individual what or how his car looks and how he wants the car to be. I personally showed my car in 2000/2001 and stopped showing it because certain judges at certain shows told me that this shouldn't be here and this shouldn't be there. At the end of the day whether the car be a minter or an old shed it is still the owners pride and joy and he should not have to be told a load of negative things about his car and made to feel it isn't good enough to be brought to the shows and be shown.look at townley park a regional day which was celebrating 30 years of mk2 escorts 3 cars turn up for the display,i attended the rsoc agm last year where a lot of things were said by the current registrar none of which have happened I WONDER WHY.i cannot remember seeing any article in the registrars section in the rallye news for years or any advice or tips about owning,buying,running or modifications you can do to the car if the owner wanted to go down that route. i am a member of the rsoc and will continue being one as i think it is a good club to be part off.there has been a big resurgence in old skool and people like to use them i think someone has not realised this, surely after the success of the lakes tour I would of thought that a mini tour might have been organised for the day before national day even if it was just a little run round as well as the display on the sunday. I think this would have worked.

If any boys can remember the first national day at Donnington the mk2s out classed that show with plenty through out the models.Back then you had BCG and the Petals cars ruling the show they had plenty of competition but no one could get near or no one would upset them?
Since then some quality cars have dried up people lost interest.
We showed our cars the works team from 1996 competition was poor in the mexico and none in the blue stripeclasses.
Same again at national day Hems car always won the big show with only little competiton, may be this may have had a cause in the decline in the mk2 mexs 2000 shown.
Maybe if one of the judges have downed them we may have a different scene but with respect these cars a mighty examples, but the word on the street back then no one could beat these cars so why bother.
This masterclass does not seem to work in todays scene but if it was introduced in the early 90s may have worked may have gave a chance to someone else to have a bit of glory.I have seen a lot of cars where people have put time and graft into them and come away with SFA, been pipped by the man with the most money it is not just the car car you should be judged on a look into the way it has been put togther and input from the individual showing the vehicle.

Bring back the good old days
