cheeRS for the above post BJ (oops nice name - lol lol lol)
I am sure some will say I am stirring up trouble but I (along with yourself) simply have the balls to come out from behind the keyboard and put our names to issues about what affects us !
What controversial threads such as this one does seem to achieve is that the usual "Thread Spammers" dont seem to want to add anything to em ! - lol lol lol

am not an rsoc member but from lookin on the forum and readin rallye news there seems to be very little about the real RS's, more intrested in turbos, the registar should be some1 who makes them self known to member and is about to help out with car related problems and be at the local group show, i know it would be hard 2 make all shows but i (non member) was asked to judge concourse at 2 shows this year (exter and cumbria) shouldnt this be the registar job

As an on/off member of the RSOC for the past 20 years(ish) I have become increasingly disillusioned with the whole thing. I keep my membership going because I think they need the support at the moment with dwindling memberships and no new RS's on the horizon. I also for some reason still feel proud to be a member. There has of recent times in Rallye News been an upsurge in the "Old School" articles which is great (Mr John to name but one)
I think the reason why John Hughes hasn't added anything is for him to answer and not for us to speculate as to why. It would be nice to see something regarding our cars in the Registrars` Tourqe but this has not happened as yet. The Capri Registrar has something in every issue as does the Aussie contributer which is great.
I think my main bugbear with the RSOC is on the parts front with nigh on bugger all ever being remanufactured or available for our cars over the past 10 years or so.
I do seem to get a lot more out of my local group (Notts) as these are a great bunch of enthusiastic people with a lot of old school involvement of both MK1's and 2's.
I know the RSOC is mainly made up of Turbo's and Cosworths so it should cater for these cars BUT, they should never forget the cars that started the RSOC.
Cheers, Kev.

a good read that, agree with alot of it -
maybe we should just shout about things a bit more - agreed, the older cars recent reborn popularity and interest in them can only to be good for all of us -
we at dorset group are very lucky to have an almost 50/50 split of old vs modern, but having said that we do shout our case at the regional meets and we find it very healthy indeed - at our recent show there was an even split which you just dont see anymore - ok, maybe we are just lucky to be in such a situation, but we (and all of you) have to fight to keep the 1 & 2 in the limelight
graeme, dorset ed.

Cant add more to whats been said above other than the registrar
knows im am looking for a car as i have been asking for more years
than i care to mention and not had one call.Still a member dont know why all i seem to get from it is another mag for the pile.
On the parts front i have been told by someone in the know the rsoc has been offered parts from the clearance centre at a very good discounted price 2-3 14 tonne cargo truck's worth, not all will be old skool but some must be and the rest will suit the turbo/cosworth owners, why havent they jumped at the chance?

Paul (RS2000&MEX) , just out of interest where are you getting the membership numbers for the RSOC ?
Would rather be in a club with 2000 RS enthusiasts than 6000 chavs and it can't only be me who's seen them at shows , wouldn't know a mk2 if it ran them over ...........sigpic
