Getting the crossmember and the other parts attached to it back on the car and lining all the holes up (well unless you are dave and you can turn the car upside down ) , it has taken me 2 days to do this ( well the first attempt i had to leave it because it was really starting to p155 me off , and i would of put the hammer through the window if i hadnt )

its back on now after much cursing , so just thought i would let you know that thios job is OFFICIALY the hardest job on a MKII

Hardest job on a MKII is stopping the back end stepping out in a bend on a wet road !!

But then again why would you want it to stop ?? - lol lol lol

i have to disagree, the hardest job ever is trying to reconnect the hot/cold heater cable to the operating lever on the heater box while its all in situ behind a complete dash without removing the seats. i still have the scars and back pain to prove it

remember what I said about being locked in a cage with a velociraptor when you first posted your heater problems?

Surely the toughest job has still got to be the classic clutch change under the car?

I suffered from those heater connections.

Those plastic clips are murder to fit on properly.

I had a stiff neck after all that, and cuts and bruises also.

Agreed, did this yesterday... got to do it again today cos the plastic gear for the air direction plate is rodded and is causing the ratchet thing to skip. Brilliant. Can't wait. Let me at it.

Glad to see it wasnt just me who was making a pigs ear of the heater jobs, and as for the cage full of raptors....... i think i would stand a better chance of not losing an eye with them than with that bloody cable..... i think the end is specially shaped to hook into soft exposed flesh!...

off to the chemists for more plasters now.

I'm with you on this one mate, nothing worse than rolling around under the car covered in all sorts of sh1te, trying - singlehandedly, to control the rapid groundwards descent of a heavy gearbox with only the tip of your nose !

Fitting a pair of inner wings must be harder than a clutch change.

Or how about replacing a roof skin ?

Or fitting rear turrets and 4 link boxes ?

                        Or rebuilding a gearbox ?

Or shimming the cams in a BDA ?

You lot are a bunch of big girls blouses :winky: :winky:
                        Cheers Rob.

This has to be the hardest job "Replacing the dashboard" Its almost impossible. But can be done.
