  • Mk2 RS2000 Historic Build

A very solid Escort mk2 RS2000 arrived at our workshop last week. The owner John Baker ANWCC 2015 Historic champion, WAMC 2015 rear wheel drive champion and 2nd Overall 2015 WAMC Ravenol Challenge. Has asked us to complete the work on his shell to Historic spec, we hope you enjoy the progress.

New roof skin to be fitted first, replace the wings to make her a flat front.

why do people do this ? surely you can pick up a standard shell for less than a genuine RS2000 car / shell?

Maybe he wants a car with a genuine rs2000 shell instead of a base or imported shell with an id on it so people will not pick at.....dammed if you do and dammed if you dont

Also looking at the shell , maybe it was bought as is , imagine the cost of buying all the RS parts to fit it out back as a standard RS2000 lots of ££

The owner may not be too bothered about money and wants the car to be correct no matter what it costs.

Having a nice shell at the start saves on a lot of time and work, thats why i chose the best shell for my project.

Ye guys, i agree with every comment, shell was bought as is with log book, a good base to start with. His rally car he was using has come to its end and has gone this way with a fresh build. We have started taking the wings off and putti g a new roof skin in between all the other shells

The RS2000 was Homologated as a flat front on the 1-2-1978.

Only problem is that was NEVER sold in Australia as an RS2000 ! It was an Escort 2.0 Rally Pack or Sport. Ford playing manufacturer tricks back in the day!
