  • Haynes of Maidstone

Well I realy do think this will be my last project,, ,, I have always admired the John Taylor Haynes car since I rallied Escorts in the 80s and always wanted a similar car but could never be able to fund the build at that time.,

Any how I recently wrote to Haynes and they have granted permission to use the company name and assistance where possible to build a replica so here we go ..

Not sure how long it will take but as they say watch this space.

If anyone can also provide photos both interior and exterior the help will be appreciated.

Alan, are you aware that the car is on display at JD Classics in Maldon Essex. I am often in that area and could probably get specific pics if you can't get there yourself. I do have 4 phone pics at the mo,
I'll post them when I'm at a PC

One of the lads who serviced for us, who was working at M-Sport at the time, Dad built the cars, will give him a ring.

Thanks gents for the positive comments,,

Hayes looked up the chap from the body shop who worked on the car as the first thing I asked was the colours

Diamond White and Electric Monza blue,,

Dident know that if you build a replica car you need the permission of the original sponser to use the company logos,,, something to do with copyrite and advertising rights

                            A decent engine

[QUOTE=alancdavis;687484]Please define a decent MK2 escort engine[/QUOTEA decent engine is the one you want. If this was my last build I would consider something reliable that doesn't need ongoing tuning etc and is driveable in your later years and if need be your chauffer can handle it.

You don't have to open the bonnet so as long as it sounds reasonable it's all good.
I have vague memories of that car[lot of water under the bridge] go for it enjoy the build and driving it whatever your choice is.

Fully agree with you and so my choice will most likely be a reasonably standard Zetec ,,, Drop a BDA cam cover on it and a pair if side drafts for period look and off you gp
