Ah, that must be a regional difference, in England that wouldn't be allowed.

But this is a UK car and being built for Fast Road use? Without the cables you won't get a MOT so think again before firing up the welder!

Indeed it is and road tax is only €56 a year on vehicles 30 years plus compared to the extortionate rates we pay on newer ones. Majority of rally inspired road going mk2s here are using hydraulic handbrakes.

Thank jesus it's only 56! Pay 112 for the 2 Escorts for the year and 710 for the Altezza. It'd break you to own anything over 2.0

i know what u mean my bmw is €710 a year also, this and the lack of NCT and all the bullshit that comes with our testers and the stupid VRT costs all played a role in selling my last cosworth and taking a break from them for abit... Its ok if u have a car on uk plates while its sitting in a bubble but come summer time ya cant drive a bubble around and customs these days just take the car off ya on the spot so its either pay up or shut up....

Thanks Gary, your skills with the welder have gone a long way in making it a tidy escort. Long road ahead getting it stripped and preped for primer but after a few weekends i should be well on...
