I'll give you one example I have noticed.

Sharks & Gartrac both sell multipoint cage brackets of the SD Multipoint. I believe they are OK for Historic, but there is absolutely no mention of them in the original FISA homologation from the 70's or the homologated revision in the MSA 2011 drawings!

A friend of mine is trying to build a Mk2 RS2000 to both the HRCR and the FIA rules. There are things allowed by HRCR which were never used in period, which could not be used under the Appendix J of the time and totally contravene these.
R49.1.3. Historic Category 3 Rally Cars:
Includes cars registered and homologated in Groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 between 1 January 1975 and 31 December 1981. Cars in Category 3 must comply with their
Homologation forms and Appendix J of the 1981 FIA Yellow Book.
It could be why these have been introduced this year.
R49.5.3. Upon issue of the validated HRVIF the applicant will be issued with two individually numbered Motor Sports Association Registered Historic Rally Vehicle stickers (appendix 1: Drawing Number 49.5). These stickers must be affixed to the car one per side located on the rear section of the front wing.
An MSA licenced Eligibility Scrutineer may remove the MSA stickers if the vehicle is found not to comply with R49-49.11.4.

I'm still trying to find out what you can do with the gearbox tunnel for an RS2000 pinto engine spec. I keep getting told that the large tunnel cannot be used, but no one tells me what I can use, ie auto tunnel.

So effectively it would have to be to Fia Grp 2 spec then (otherwise it would not comply to the Fia rules.) Unless he is competing on Fia events, or events which run to Fia rules, why bother as he would be at quite a disadvantage - standard crank and rods for example, no rear links, no dry sump, steel bonnet and boot, and so on.

Correct - The RACMSA Rules say :-
R49.1.3. Historic Category 3 Rally Cars:
Includes cars registered and homologated in Groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 between 1 January 1975 and 31 December 1981. Cars in Category 3 must comply with their Homologation forms and Appendix J of the 1981 FIA Yellow Book.
Which should mean the cars are to that spec too, but for some reason that is totally ignored for the RS2000.

Did this car ever get finished? An update of the build and subsequent use would be interesting.
