Well two resto threads on Mk1 Escort Sports are always better than one I should think! Looking forward to reading more about it and seeing your photos.

          Cheers, Tim.

            Initial purchase

Well as you can see in the picture this is the original advert from the"Thames Valley Trader".dated July 9th 1987.I had just sold my Alfa Sud and my brother had a mk1 Escort estate, which he was busy modifying outside our front door,i guess you could do that in those days without some toe-rag nicking it!I saw the advert and went to guildford to view it and left a deposit and the next day it was mine.

                Owners handbook

As i purchased the car so long ago i was fortunate to get the owners handbook
intact and i've posted a few shots,j'm sure many of you have seen these before
but i thought i would show them as maybe some haven't,the owners handbook has a supplement for the 1300 Sport,it shows both forms of dashes,i've posted the early dash, also there is a shot of the Ford dealers service book.013.jpg

                  Early photos'

Here are a few shots of the car in the late eighties and early nineties, looking slightly sad in many ways, the car has a 1600 cc xflow, with a magnalesi inlet which in my stupidity i have since lost
The engine was built by my brother,to clever that chap!,if i find any pictures i will post his Mk1 Estate which i actually spotted around 10 years ago so it should still be out there, more on that later.but that was where the engine came out of.
Some of the photos are in Wood Steet W005.jpg

It looks well that!!!.I must admit I do like the old car ads!!,I like looking for old auto trader magazines from the early 80s on ebay for those happy days, when my brother used to buy it every Thursday morning looking for escorts to buy,I always remember reading it and getting my hands black of the print!!!!.oh happy days!!!...
