Helping a friend get this back on the road for our trip to the Alps at the end of August.

It hasn't been on the road for 12 years and spent most of its time inside a bubble. We got it started and took it for an MOT without doing anything to it, you are right, it didn't pass.. Here is the list of what has been done..

A Service (plugs, leads, dizzy, rotor arm, oil, etc)
    Steering Coupling
    Rear Springs, Shocks and bushes
    Rear brakes, shoes, cylinders, etc
Handbrake self adjuster welded (wasn't adjusting)
1" Lowering Blocks, rather than 2" (was rubbing)
I'm sure there was more, but can't remember everything!

We are unsure if anything has been done to the engine, it looks like a standard 2L Pinto, sounds lovely and very free revving.

    Here's some more photos

    In for it's MOT today!

Things to be changed before taking it to the Alps.
Upgrade front brakes to Princess 4 pots
Type 9 5 speed gearbox and ear plugs
Possibly remove lowering blocks for the trip

Took her out last night as it was such a nice evening!

Managed to sort out the timing and idle. Now need to adjust the fuel/air mixture as it is way too rich, hand turned black when put infront of the exhaust.

Still hunting a little, Webers definately need a tune.

No heat from the heater! Both the pipes to the heater matrix were stone cold, and not much water flow, possibly new waterpump needed. Also the temperature gauge isn't working.

Ran out of petrol 0.5 a mile from home!!! How do you put a fuel sender unit in those tanks!?

A few more things added to the list of many things!

What springs to mind; radiator, heater matrix, waterpump, cambelt, alternator, silicone hoses, leccy fan, 5 speed, lowering blocks removed (for holiday), rocker cover/cam cover blasted and spray painted.. and a whole lot of other things I can't remember!

                  It's getting there!

Catch tank, radiator, electric fan and a whole lot of other things I can't remember now finished.

Also had it rolling road tuned at Circuit Motors Castle Coombe and it is running nice and smooth ready for a 1600+ mile round trip!

Had a couple of bike racks made up ready for the trip.

We have been doing loads of little jobs recently.
                  Lights removed, cleaned/polished
                  Boot & Bonnet alarm switches
                  Gear lever cut/bent and welded
..and a million other little jobs!

It is nearly ready for our holiday in the Alps.

The engine is a 2.0 Pinto, running twin 40's, standard cam, standard injection head. It made 101 bhp at wheels, not a lot but will be upgraded over winter.

                            Cheers Grum,

We had a fuel incident the other week, pishing out all over engine bay! Lines were replaced within the last year. Will be keeping fingers crossed!

BTW, are you the same Grum from STW?
