  • Mk2 Grp4 "Mad paddy" Rebuild

Im new to the forum and although i have put a few photos of my progress on another forum i have never done a decent build thread with photos in any logical order, so i thought i would give it a go.

I brought this car 2 years ago from Northern Ireland. I knew it was a tatty rally car but originally i had planned to tidy it up as i went along.

Here are a few photos of how the car was when i got it.

It was usable but scruffy with alot of bad welding.

The car had "Mad Paddy" written on the rear window so the name has stuck.

Originaly i had planned to clean the underside of the car and underseal it, i then decided to remove the engine to clean up the engine bay as the paint was in a bad way and there were signs of rust.

While at it i wanted to look at the wiring as this had been hacked around lots and was covered in the blue crimp on connecters that i hate.

Engine bay was not to rusty.

Its alot easier to take something apart than put it back together!

Brakes and suspension all got taken off cleaned and painted

carbs had a clean up and new gaskets fitted.

            New top mounts

I was very sad and peeled all the old scrutineering stickers off the cage.

Then brough a spit so i could bear metal the under side of the car.

That car does need a bit of TLC and it looks like you're doing a pretty fair job there, keep those pictures coming
