another Rs 2000 rebuild

Hi All,
Have been Working on and off for last couple of years on complete strip and rebuild 0f 2 door RS mark2, found out about photobucket from this site so will have a go at putting up some pictures. No classic ford scene here in Nth Oz, although there a few members of the BB who live up this way. Purists may hate what I have done, have made some mods to suit climate and put in some modern parts as sourcing some bits hard and expensive. Here goes.....

Rs rebuild

car was originally my youngest brothers. It was stolen, they blew the engine, jumped on the roof and made a bit of a mess of it. He was too down hearted to redo it so sold it to another brother who sold it to me. I have mate who used to be a panel beater and he spent hundreds of hours getting it sorted, did it at " mates rates " or I probably wouldn't have done tried to do this project.

RS Rebuild

These pics show car in primer. You may notice that the DS rear quarter panel is missing its fuel cap. In oz cars this is for show only as the real filler is in the rear panel. Mine was so rotten I cut it out and panelled over it. I put vents in the bonnet to provide some better engine bay cooling ( summers are 35 degreesC with 85 % humidity ) and fitted an alloy wing rather than the rubber bobtail.

RS rebuild

The hole in the radiator support panel is for the intake hose for the cold air box I am fitting to the twin 45's. It has a pod filter and will sit in behind the nose cone. I have opened up the bars in the grill to increase the airflow to the radiator, which has been increased to a 3 core. Our temp here tomorrow is going to be 35C with about 85% percent humidity so maximum cooling is a priority. I've attached a pic showing the intake installed

Some more update shots - biggest challenge has been interior - know of any decent front door trims? Prices here are ridiculous!! Put in custom rear parcel shelf speakers, new hood lining, tinted glass and white face dials on gauges- originals just about unreadable, had them calibrated and replaced voltage reducer. Got the wiring to unscramble then will assemble. Going to trim dash with vinyl and have old school velvet trimmed dash pad.

Mechanically justabout to do final piping for brakes - used focus 4 stud rear discs and calipers and whole new hand brake system. Rims are 15" and 50 series tyres - had them blasted and powdercoated in charcoal metallic. Some more pics attached.
