  • Managed a couple of hours today after a 6 week break to refit our kitchen. (Much brownie points in the bag )

Anyway, cool to uncover her and see how much I'd done last year. She's looking quiet sad but ill soon be putting bits back on

Only really managed to clean up the air box, hate painted air boxes so this is it.

    From this

    To this

Another soak and scrub should get it looking minty.

Looking forward to getting her sorted for the spring.

This black $hit is getting on my nerves...

              After

Getting there with it now. Next step is to strip out the cooling system, flush, clean and reassemble with new hose clips etc.

Deadline of end of April for the first Prescott hill climb.

              • Got bored with scrapping black goo so decided to tackle the back end refurb.

Took this lot out today, springs are being sent off for a refurb. New old stock damper ready to refit. The old ones don't return at all once depressed. No wonder it was a bit bouncy !!

Found loads more black though .... But this defiantly staying

                • If they're stock dampers they won't return, as they're standard oil units, not gas pressurised, i.e. Bilsteins.

                  • That's interesting. The new ones going on do return.

                    • Maybe you've got some gas pressurised ones then???
They were available, a lot of people specified them on Cortinas mainly for towing use. Those were usually grey coloured though.

                      • Looks so much better with the black stuff removed

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

Don't worry Ruddy I'm not going to go to far. Just the black is going. As far as possible nothing will be changed other than "service items". May change to electronic ignition but that's about it. She does need a suspension overhaul as as far as I'm aware she's never had a bushe changed!!!
PMSL @ the green cows and sheep bit-very funny

Only iPhone pic I'm afraid but does show the area. Imagine this area changes from one car to the next a bit like the under bonnet modification.

                              • Been busy and really getting somewhere now

Had the spring refurbished by Owen Springs. As a point of interest they have taken all the details and specs of these original springs so they can now remake springs to original RS2000 spec. (Hopefully no need for lowering blocks)

Engine bay is really looking good

                                From this....

To this.... Hardly any difference really

                                And this

                                To this

The little thing I've found whilst doing this have been great. Lots of original bits and pieces.

                                Original alternator?

                                Original leads?

Also had the original rad recored

So looking at MOT and tax for March and getting driving it.
