  • MK1 3000GT CAPRI epic restoration

  • #2
    a

Our latest epic resto is this rare 3000GT MK1 Capri, it arrived partially dismantled and first impressions are that the car is full of filler and hiding some dodgy repairs.

With the car fully dismantled the extent of the dubious repairs is becoming apparent. The roof is over an inch deep in filler ( that is a twenty pence piece standing on its edge you can see centre of the pic)

With the shell back from blasting the full extent of the corrosion and bad repairs are now visible and there is not a single panel that has'nt got corrosion eating away at it somewhere.
Most of the panel from the roof to the chassis rails is going to need replacing.

No wonder it had a 3 ltr engine to pull all that crap around

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

The task of removing all the rusty panels in now well under way and new rust free reclaimed roof is on the way along with the rear inner and outer scuttle, a very large list of panels has been placed with Expressed steel panels but due to thier work load it may be a while before we see any panels. In the mean time there's still plenty to do.
