Mk2 Transit Recovery Truck

Not sure if this is the kind of thing people on the site want to since its not an RS Escort but here goes......

Its a 1978 Mk2 Transit fitted with a 2.4 York and 4 speed box, i picked her up from Dover and drove her 600 odd miles home to Oban with a top speed of 40mph!! LOL!

The truck was in a bit of a worse condition than i thought it would be but i wasnt travelling all that way and coming back empty handed.

So the plans are to strip her down and do all the required welding and cut out all the old mot spec stuff, ive bought a mk5 transit with a Turbo Di and 5 speed box that will be getting fitted then give her a nice paint job.

Here is where i am to date...

Alloy bed removed, interior and glass stripped. There was what looked to be a steel rear bumper from an Iveco or something fitted to the front with a step so i have boxed that in and fitted a phase 1 front panel as someone had fitted a phase 2 front end in the past.

I've has 2 MK2 Transits in the past. Both were used for Band transport Still love to see them

Used to see that going about round my way
Looked quite tidy from a distance!
Will make a nice truck with modern engine etc

Will make a nice truck this, my dad used to have a White B Reg one back in the mid 90's it was a super clean truck with a DI engine and box in. Will see if I can find any pics of it and ask him what he did with it. Keep the pics coming!
