Done a bit more on the sport, started drilling out the spot welds on the heater bubble

found some rot behind it but nothing too serious, got to get some quotes on getting the shell blasted as the guy who did my other mk1 has closed down
      some more pics,

cheers, yeah i'm really pleased with how they've turned out, well worth the effort of paintstripping & de-rusting them to have them powdercoated, i will get a load more bits on it done once i've cleaned them up.

im lucky that the chap i rent my garage off has blasting facilitys, start with alluminium oxide, hes then got 2 grades of glass bead in seperate cabinets and has just taken delivery of what he described as a wet blaster, gives an anodised style finish. i did all my alloy parts in the bead blaster last week should update my post really and get my shell welded up so ive got something to fit everything to!
The zincing process was much cheaper if i blasted and pickled them first.

Same here! I'm busy at work & have car shows to go to this time of year so just getting bits & pieces done when i get time in the evenings/weekends, I hope to get stuck into doing the welding on the shell in the next couple of months & during the winter.

The powdercoating looks great. Is it hard cleaned off threads etc??
