    • looks lovely love the powdered coated items make such a difference to a rebuild when everything is freshly done and not put back together with rusty bolts and parts..

      • Really does look good

        • Cheers for all the comments!
A bit more progress made, steering column is in, new steering rack fitted, and its sat back on 4 wheels at last, but with the ride height of a crop sprayer

          • Hi all, bit more of an update, I've taken the engine to the machine shop, they are going to see what needs doing & let me know next week so I can order up some parts for it.
Tried to undo fuel tank union which had been rounded off & it broke up so somehow I've got to sort that out..

Also made a start stripping down the heater unit, paint stripped it & its now having a soak in my de-rusting tank..

Sump bare metalled & etch primed..

Lotus steels I got sandblasted & I painted a while ago, got a new set of tyres fitted to them today & put them on the car,

Its still sitting a bit high but I'm hoping the suspension will settle a bit over time especially when bits are fitted back on, if not I may have to lower it a bit

            thats it for now,

            cheers, Stu.

              • If you're going for the full-bufty, how about straightening your brake lines and forming the bends properly? Imagine it's a pain, but if you're doing everything else...

                Car looks ace!

                          • It's becoming a lovely car that Stu, I see one or two minor extras but well worth having I think. I have to admit that I had added similar to mine too.

Thank you! Yes I have an original 1300GT engine, I've had the machining done on it & its waiting for a rebuild to go back in this one.

                              cheers, Stu.

Cheers! Yes I'm putting a few extras on but not going too mad as I want to keep it as fairly standard as I can.
                                The reversing lamps I'm
putting back as they've been on the car many years, I've put cibie iode halogen headlamps on as they're better than sealed beams & will also fit an alternator instead of the original dynamo so it will cope with the halogens a bit better. Will also fit a set of door mirrors.
The steering wheel I've got on it is temporary, the original I've sent away for the leather to be re-done

                                cheers, Stu.
