        • All welded in place

Next job to repair the inner arch, I've found a use for VW campers the rear corner repair panel is a similar shape to the arch on the bulkhead so i bought one, cut it to size & held in place with some self tapping screws..

          Tack welded in place

All welded in & ground down

            • Nice one mate, good use of the camper corner panel. It looks like they fit an escort better than they fit a camper they r made for lol

                • Hi all, spent a couple of days cutting out the support frame inside the car

Welded in the seat brackets to the tunnel & tidied up a few welds

                  • Also decided to put some type 49 top plates on the strut tops, I know Sports didn't have these originally but I decided to put them on to strengthen things up a bit here.

And gave it all a coat of primer

                    • Had a bit of luck, a mate of mine had a 1300GT engine out of his 1300E project car & was after a 1600 xflow, so I did a deal & did him a swap for one of my spare 1600 xflows so know I have a proper 1300GT engine to rebuild & put in the Sport

                      Thats it for now,
                      cheers, Stu.

                        • Hi all bit of an update, haven't got a lot done lately as I've been busy with shows etc. I've been paintstripping the outer panels during the evenings & given them a coat of etch primer. I've done the bootlid, roof, rear quarters & door skins so far, the rest I'm going to get shotblasted & hopefully the shell will be going off to be done in the next few weeks so I'll be able to see anymore hidden horrors! Here's a few pics of the progress,
                          cheers, Stu.

Lots of pitted rust on passenger door bottom to sort out

                          • Cleaned up the bare steel & a coat of etch.

Its had a new driver side rear quarter fitted at some point in the past & arches done so will need a bit of prep work to put right.

                            Thats it for now,
                            Cheers, Stu.
