Started rebuilding the engine, all the pistons and bearings look like new with minimal wear, so the big wing sump is now back on, I got a brand new borg & beck clutch from Northern Components in Donny for it so that's the next job to do.

In the meantime my eagerly awaited package arrived

Im well happy with the quality of these, cant wait to get them fitted

It runs at last, no breathing, no horrible smells or knocks, just a few teething problems to sort. Temp gauge didnt work but that was because someone put a plastic spacer between the nut and earth return track on the back of the clocks !!! The ignition warning lamp worked a treat but after half an hour it came back on and stayed on, so the recon alternator I had sat around for a while must be u/s. I need to get the right throttle linkage bracket as this one is wrong. I bust the bottom radiator hose by over tightening the clip. Other than that a successful first fire up lol. I put an old rocker cover on for now just to get it going.
