  • O I agree Davey, especially when they fit as well lol.

Made these up for the chassis ends this morning

Cut down to size and nearly ready for welding

Welded in and deffo an improvement on the rot

    The traditional lick of paint

Hmmm, need to see whats under this heavy piece of plate

Surprise surprise, more rot just hidden under it

Cut a lot of crap out of this to find good metal to weld too, nearly there now, just a few more bits of rot to grind out

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

      • Good work tony, that front leg section looks a bit kippered!!! I couldn't get to the bad bits on mine properly without removing a load of the old carp! Looks like yours should fettle up well there tho.

        • A first glance i thought you had bought those chassis ends, nice bit of fabrication mate. The rot keeps coming but im sure you will weed it all out in the end.

          • Thanks again guys, im well happy with the chassis sections i knocked up .
Not got much done since Friday as we had dog shows over the weekend, but this evening I managed to cut away the rotten inner wheel arch on the N/S rear and start making and welding into place some new sections, still a bit more to do on it but almost done, then same to do on other side of car

                • Thanks Guys, im getting there slowly.
Finished off the rear N/S inner arch the other night but forgot to take any photos lol, will get some taken and posted up.
Today I concentrated on sorting out the N/S chassis section that had rotted away, took me about 4 hrs to do, I started with this

There are 3 layers of metal here, so I made up 3 repair plates

                  First plate going in

                  second plate in position

second plate being plug welded into place, the small hole without weld in it will be the jacking point hole when I drill it out to size

I put plenty of weld around this middle plate

Cleaned up the weld a little so that the top plate could go on, also sprayed some weld through etch primer on the second plate

Top plate now going on, screwdriver was keeping the jacking point holes aligned

                  Clean up the welding

Bit more etch primer, and it doesnt look too bad does it ?

Another view showing how flat it now is, will need a thin skim of filler to make it spot on

Then when I spin the car over, I have this to sort out lol

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.

                            • Thanks again guys, really appreciate all your comments.
Had a good weekend on kermit, took off loads of underseal, made up some more repair panels and best of all, got some more etch primer and rubberised texture stonechip on, beginnnig to look like a car now at last
Boot floor is in very good condition

looks even better in paint lol, etch first then texture coat.

Few more pics to show my progress
