Lovely to get your car restored to it's original splendour. Quite a rare car these days being an S reg with the "Ford" on the nose cone and boot. I remember these cars very well during the 70's and there were very few of these about even then. I had a July 78 on an S plate which was near to the first ones with the Ford oval badges, but as I say I used to notice the odd S reg with "Ford" on it. I would hazard a guess that the Ford oval was introduced after the factory summer shut down during 1977 so the low volume of S reg "Ford" badged cars would be due to existing cars being registered after August 1st that year. These all had the pinstripe too after the idea of the broadstripe was abandoned earlier on.

I also love your black and white picture of your car, it looked immaculate at that time.

    Tim.

nice car, prefer them with the older style smaller mirrors, the later with remote just look wrong.

I hope you checked and are happy with the nose cone fit on the wings. I ended up ditching a set of expressed ones because the profile and swage line was nowhere near, had to find second hand ones and repair the rails.

      Luck forward to seeing progress.!

Its coming on slowly, going back on the RS alloys,,i hate those 15 inch things,,sold them.
Im having the alloys polished up,,gonna be £40 each im told..
The cars just having bit more prep before paint.
Got to make sure i get the right colour Venetian red.

I still need quite afew parts, such as roll top interior RS2000 headlights.
Id like it done for July so i can take it to Donnington as im only 20 mins away from there,,im probably being optimistic !

Swage line looks ok i think although the cone might need abit of adjustment.
Been collecting afew bits and had some bits sand blasted /powder coated.

Thought my door was rattling, door bar bracket had rotted away.
At this stage im not painting the engine bay,,as its in fairly good order. has had top plates that although arent neatest are fine for the moment. I'll look at taking the block out for a clean and paint at a later date.

Yes it was first sold by "Crystal" of Hull, they are gone, must have been a Ford dealer, it spent time in Barton upon Hubmer, it was later sold at British and Continential cars of Brigg, the chap who ran it, Mal Bennet used to specialise and rally Rs's back then.
You can see the B+C logo on the top strip on this pic, think the garage is still there. I have a pic of several RS's for sale there, have to dig it out.
Grammer school road Brigg if im not mistaken

Brings back memories of pulling moonies off the bridge to the traffic on the motorway and dicking about

Oh Nice motor by the way
