Its a Roof skin from a four door,, it had a leaky 80's Sunroof,,I've heard of people welding plates on but I would think to get the curve right you would need to be very skilled.
Yes it was first sold by "Crystal" of Hull, they are gone, must have been a Ford dealer, it spent time in Barton upon Hubmer, it was later sold at British and Continential cars of Brigg, the chap who ran it, Mal Bennet used to specialise and rally Rs's back then.
You can see the B+C logo on the top strip on this pic, think the garage is still there. I have a pic of several RS's for sale there, have to dig it out.
On a seperate note, the original pics i have of it show she had the early FORD grill,,im told this is unusual for an "S" reg, but it is an Early 1977 car, i know the cross over,/ford Oval was introduced around August/Septembe of 77.,it also had the metal ford letter across the boot lid,,i had a long search trying to locate the correct early grill.
Didnt know repro ones were available, wings are pattern, think they were about £230 for the pair, i have qiute afew old pics of my car, always worth looking into the history, these motors been around a long time))
Here is a photo of my s reg 1977 rs 200 with the f.o.r.d front nosecone .nice to see that other s reg rs are out there with this type of nosecone.anny more photos of your rs?
Nice to see another old style grill,,when was it manafactered? early 77?
Its at the paint shop awaiting more prep, they have done a nice job blending the roof line,, not my own work,,wouldnt attempt it.
Hoping she will be painted in the next few weeks,,venetian red,,althought im told there are lots of shades of that red in the 70s?? anyone know more???
Been collecting all the bits for it,,still need quite afew parts, new seats and door cards are going to cost.
Hi Steve,
Do you have the twin headlight assemblies for the car yet. I don't have a proper set to work out the right way to assemble them or which is left or right hand on mine. Any clues?
