  • ADG Resto.

Well, after owning ADG for over 33 years and abusing it for a fair few of them the time has come for some tlc. I delivered the old girl to the bodyshop on the 30th September for the work to start. The remit was to remove the interior, engine, glass and nosecone. Repair any rust and nasties found, then a complete respray including engine bay then full waxoil protection to hopefully last another 33 years.
Got the call yesterday that the strip down was almost done apart from engine removal. I have to say I went in with some trepidation as to what they had found. Needn't have worried though as it seems all is well and no nasty shocks. I think the worst bit is base of screen and scuttle panel but new this was dodgy so all in all very happy.
    Some pics below.

More pics to follow in a couple of weeks when engine has been removed.

That's about it I hope. Get any rust sorted then respray. Fit a few new things I have bought over the last couple of years then get out next summer and enjoy it again.

No, not much more. New scuttle panel to be fitted and a rear chassis rail on nearside and that's about it. They have grafted in new repair panels for the rear arches as these were a bit bent from my rallying days as per picture below.

Went to see ADG yesterday to deliver a few new bits and pieces ready for the re-assembly. Was greeted by a freshly painted RS. Over the moon to see it back like this as I had been told by a mate that it was in primer.
Some pictures below. Appologies for the couple of blurred ones but the excitement got the better of me. Silly old sod that I am.

The old girl and me have been through a lot together since I bought her so lots of memories. Deserves all the pampering she gets from now on.

Thanks both. Painter told me he put 6 coats of paint on so should last a few more years.

Well, picked up the RS from the bodyshop yesterday and they have done a pretty good job. Couple of things need addressing but all in all very happy.
Pictures below. More to follow when it stops raining.
