sorry for the lack of updates, ive only been picking away at things when I can.
ive found that everything I go to refit to the car needs something doing to it either cleaned/painted/lubed/fixed ect.
so far I started on the small things like bits of trim, mirrors, lights, heater box, wiper motor/mechanism etc.

I had a lot of grief with my engine, it turned into a can of worms and took a lot longer than expected.
its now got a new cam kit, 4 new pistons, a std replacement crank as the other had been ground to the maximum, new hp oil pump and all new gaskets and bearings etc but the strangest part of it was when I got a phone call to say that one of my conrods was different than the rest! (see pics) luckily I bought a complete bottom end for the crank and just sent them the rods from it which were checked and fitted.
the heads had valve guides and steel inserts fitted
so its practically as good as new now

oh and my interiors back and im well happy with how it looks!

 heres the pics

 spot the odd one out!
one is a 205/inj rod the others are std early pinto ones

does anyone know what these markings on the side of the distributor mean?? I found them after cleaning it. as far as I know its a std one and its still got points fitted

Thanks for that john I never saw that when I looked. Seems strange though that my dizzy has r1 on it and the vaccum unit fitted but according to their info one with vaccum unit is an r2 without is an r1on the end.

I think im doing away with it anyway and fitting an h and h electronic one.cheeRS
