Good to hear about the new addition to the family. Take it you won't be at the lakes this year. Doing well with the mexico. Looks like it should be ready for lakes tour 2020. any way great times ahead. Cheers Colin 2.

ive been picking away at the mex slowly. ive only been managing a couple of hours here and there.
i sold my red mk2 as i think it was taking away the "need" to get on with the mexico. i was trying to keep them both but the mex comes first.

                    anyway heres some pics.

this bits been bugging me for years as the paint was flaking off it slowly

this was another bit that was bugging me and what made me take the car off the road. the filler was coming away from the sill and started to stick out. i decided to pull it off as i was getting the shell ready for a new outer sill.

i started bagging and tagging the rest of the engine bay. i removed the loom and all the wee clips ready for the rest of the new panel work.

this is how the inside of the sills look now. before was another story. there was remains of the original outer and inner sills still in there and the "new" outer sills had no form of rust protection at all...im amazed the rust stayed away since they were fitted in 1991. they rusted from inside out.

the shell is going to the body shop in july for some work and then im getting it back to finish a couple of things before it goes back again to get final prep and full paint...........cant wait!!
