Hanging about to sell was quite possible at that time as not many customers wanted an auto with such a small engine, as they tended to drink fuel and go like a fart.Originally posted by LOUIE View Postas ever mexico marks bang on, also as i was an auto it makes the 5 speed conversion it has nice and easy..
didnt know about the registration thing though, so thats an intresting fact....
why would it have sat round for a bit though mark, bearing in mind they were a new release on the market then?? The technology on autos at that time was old which was a drain on the power from the engine. With economy and performance in mind new design autos in the 80's started to change things for the better. I had a used L reg Viva for sale in the showroom I worked in during the late 70's which took a lot of shifting and even then the new owner suspected there was something wrong with the performance and never liked it. Larger engined 1600cc onwards autos were more acceptable. Larger engined 1600cc onwards autos were more acceptable.

Yes it was on steels, just been looking for a pic but the old ad has disappeared.

As stated above the car probably hung around due to it being an auto.

Thing I don't understand is I have a Twin Cam that was built in October 68 but wasn't registerd until late in 1969 & they were supposed to have people queing up to buy them. Mark.... Mark....
