  • Pinto 2 door Mk2 Escort

Been posting on here for a while. Thought I'd put a few pics up of the beast

    With my old man driving

    A brief spec

    2.0 pinto 140 ish bhp on 45's

Type 9 standard internals with quickshift

M16's with spacer kit 1144 pads

    Electric fan conversion

English axle 4/1 with plate type diff

175/70/13 road tyres on rs wheels

    185/60/13 A048r's on rs wheels

    STUFF STILL TO DO

I've got a GRP bonnet, boot and spoiler to go on

The roof is dented in various places and needs repairing

    Full respray

New window seals with the new placcy windows I bought off fleabay

Atlas internals in a different axle with the spare 3.7 diff I've got

Make a good engine out of the 2 XE's I just aquired

    Not much to do then

            Thanks chaps

Would like to prep it for some tarmac rallies for next year. Needs the proper cage though.

It's a joint project with my Dad (who's done most of the works as I've been under the kosh getting a house re-ferbed)

The pinto was built by a guy off here and it seems pretty strong. I've fitted a rev limiter to it last night which works a treat.

Still needs a 13 row oil cooler for track work but hopefully with the low ambiant this weekend I should get away with it.

We have a trackday booked at Rockingham this weekend which should be fun. Also got a trackday booked at the Nurburgring in April. Will probably use a different car to honest as this is only geared to about 120mph

Car went well round Rockingham with a few minor problems.

The prop was out of balance so it vibrated over 85 mph

The heater matrix started leaking so we by passed it

I need to sort a fuel guage

The exh is blowing from where the downpipe meets the system

                On a positive note

It handles mint after tweeks to the rear damper settings

The plate diff is proper with all the right clonking noises and sideways moments when it was damp first thing

The RMD steering wheel is perfect for track work

It rides the kerbs very well

Everyone who passengered in it thought it was ace

There is however an oil leak from the head gasket. Will try a re-torque first before taking the head off.

                    Thanks chap

It's a compromise set up as I want to be able to use it on the excellent b roads around the peak district

Outskirts of sheffield. Think you were heading down woodseats then back out again. Either you or someone with a very similar car.
