Yes paint it,,but its difficult to do a decent job with the engine still in it

I have thought about also putting some heat reflecting sheet on the side where the exhaust is

when you say tart up the engine bay i hope you mean paint it,cant leave it beige

Get the lights ,grill and cibies on,,,Maybe some period stickers and sign writing down the side and then get the interior sorted out.
Under the bonnett needs tarting up and inside the boot needs painting.
