about 5 years ago i thought i would like aonther mk2 escort, i had sold my last one in 1999. at that time escorts were still cheapish. so this is what i got for my money. it was a 1600 sport red and imported for south africa in the 1980s. this is what it look like when i got it! it was mot and taxed, and i drove it home from devon to susex.

well it looked ok till i started to strip it down, the plan was a repaint and fit a pinto to it. when i got it it had been painted with a brush, and as u can see running a x-flow. i thought £1500-£2000 tops and it whould be done. heres what happen next.

so after striping all the paint, it had new wings, doors, boot, bonnet, rear panel, half a 1/4 panel that i cut of a 4 door.
then had top plates, rad cut out, 4 link boxes,panhard rod mount plus lots of other bits a bobs

it is painted in ford gentin blue, a 1970s transit colour i think? it looks to me that the eaton yale cars with the strips over the front of the bonnets were a darker shade of blue than the ones with out? but im sure sure i have seen at least 1 pic of a light blue car with strips over the front, may have been sjn 830r 1978 rac car, or could just be 1970s colour film? anyone clear this up for me as id like to put strips on mine.Attached Files

after it was painted i started to put it back togeter, alloy tank, batt tray, pumps, seats all the running gear went on, glass lights door panels.

too get this up to date, bottem end and gearbox rad and fan went in last summer, head, carbs, water pipes, fuel line, ehaust and some other small bits went in before x-mas. and today dizzy and air fillters went on.
