  • Me Old Escort

right after moveing to oz a while back i thought i'd have a look around and see if i could find an old mk2 2dr in need of resto i don't mind a bit of welding so i set out to find me a project, i looked on flee bay and nothing around my area so asked around localy to me and sure enoughi found this looking very neglected.

well it looked worse than it is it has never been welded all panels are original and are good apart from one bit of rot on the o/s front wing at the bottom wich is nothing i will repare it sooner than replace the whole wing. and the best bit it cost me feck all ahhahahahahah £100 i left it were it was as i have been awaiting my house to be built along with a new garage to put it in. i also got meself a rotten four dr rs2000 for the bit's i need to get it rolling plus a set of twin dellorto's and a few other bit's and bobs as i see them. so i will put some new piccs up in the next day or so as i will be fetching it home to start work on he resto this weekend.

i was happy matey the sills are good inners are good to when i get it home i will strip it but tbh i can't see the shell needing much at all, the doors are mint they open and close perfectly no drop or wear on the pins so it seems sound as a bell. i have got another one to lol it cost me £150 ahahhahah not bad but has had a harder life and needs blasting so i will just sheet it up and leave it till i have sorted this one out here's a pic of the other one.

it's not bad the floors are good and so are the sills but it has been rubbed down and left to go rusty, i will get it soda blasted if it's worth saveing but it won't be touched for a while

almost mate i got bitten by a bloody redback spider clearing the leave's and shite off a van i bought last year ahahahahaha, my hand swelled up like a balloon and it took two days to go back to normal. the van had a snake living in it a carpet python it was after the mice that kept pinching the sound proofing material. i am very carefull now when i go looking round the breakers for parts as you never know whats hideing in and under stuff thats why i left all the shite on the escort once bitten lol you know the rest ahaahahahaha

mate there are plenty of rotten ones out here as they are cheap as chips folk just leave them out in the sun which eats the seam sealer in the roof and the gutters rot out. the rubbers suffer from the sun to so they let water in and they are left to the eliments and end up rotten. there aren't that many around up here in qld as it's sub tropical so we get plenty of rain so they end up rotting. i had an idea of sending a few shells back to the uk just the very good ones as most if not all are type 49's but due to working full time and finishing off my house and garden it is just extra hassel tbh i will see how i go but i have lots on with a 4 acre garden at the moment. as for mk1's i can have one off a bloke at work i recon $500 will buy it but i will wait till he is skint and it will be cheapernot that i'm tight lol, it is solid other than n/s lower rear 1/4 in the wheel well but not bad by anyone's standerd
