Great stuff.....there's nothing nicer than a white broadstripe. It will be well worth it in the end. Keep up the good work

                      Man after my own heart

Think I remember this one on the dreaded e-bay when I was looking for my own Money Pit. Like you, I purchased what I thought was a running resto last March. And 18 months on, the rots finally replaced with good metal ! Good on you for sticking with it, most sane people would have given up by now! A little tip about the cost of parts and panels when the missus asks - LIE! Keep at it, it will be well worth it in the end.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments guys. I feel a bit of a fraud as its Paul who has done all the hard graft so far, but there will be plenty for me to do when he hands me back a shell that has 100% more metal in it than it did when it left me!
Doing it this way with the bulkhead/floor transplant in one go should rediuce the amount of "fussy" work though. I know its gonna end up a bit like Trigger's broom but I don't care - at the end of the day, I'm the one who gets to drive it
                            Cheers

Your buddy is doing a first rate job, it must feel so good knowing you have all that solid metal in the car now , and so much easier than replacing each individual panel. I love to see cars like this being saved from certain death, done a few myself , keep at it it's worth it.

Paul rang today with an update. The outer sills were not brilliant so I got new 'un's from Expressed Panels (I must be paying their mortgage)

Paul has been waiting for these before final welding of the transplanted section and most of his time has been checking and double checking measurements, making sure everything is dead on.
While waiting for the sills, he has given attention to the rear arches and the photos took me into a depressed state.

He has already replaced some of the worst sections but we need new inner/outer arches etc
There was an extraordinary amount of filler on the rear quarter (under the RS2000 logo) and when wire brushed off, revealed previous damage which had been hammered out with a pick axe, I reckon.

Taking the cost of the car, panels (so far) and the labour up to date, I am thinking I could have bought something a lot better condition but I am past the point of no return now so I guess I'm in for the long haul.

Paul is hoping to put in a couple more days next week and I will post more pics when he sends them.

                                Cheers
                                Chris
                                Cheers
