I bought this MK2 last week. I took a flight to Southampton then drove up to look at it, bought it then drove it to the Birkenhead ferry to bring it home. Its a 1.1 and the shell is in real good shape, now has a 1.6 XFlow. I'm going to drive it the rest of the summer then its going into the garage. I plan to stick in a 2ltr pinto running on webers. The suspension is totally standard and brakes are standard at the minute , not sure what route to go.

I got the car in Canterbury. As I said the shell is in real good shape, doesnt need any work, but the paint job isnt the best, thats easily sorted. I was more interested in it having a good shell.

Yep got the car from Maxspeed Engineering, and I didnt pay £5995. The car is by no means mint, by my standards anyway. I took it to a mates today and we put her up on his lift. He specialises in bodywork and we went right over the car, no holes anywhere and no recent repairs. As can be expected there are a few small areas of surface rust on the inner arches, but no rot anywhere. When it comes to winter the car is going to be put in the garage and I'm going to repaint the bottom, and upgrade the brakes and suspension. Any advice on what way to go would be appreciated. I was thinking of putting 2.8 capri struts and brakes on, but wee bit hard to get round here.

It was sold on Ebay a few weeks before it appeared on Pistonheads, was originally from near Gatwick I think. Looked nice, I was quite tempted, but ended up buying Richard Wilson's red Mk2 instead.
Ian, whereabouts in NI are you, would be interesting to compare them!1982 Cortina 2.0 Ghia
