  • Ozzy's Rebuild...(Mk1 Escort)

Hi there folks, as some of you may know my mum n dad have aquired another mk1 escort...anyone who knows us...knows we are escort daft in this family...which aint a bad thing lol ....although it takes up alot of our spare time! lol
Maw n paw used to rally for 7yrs in the early seventies with mk1 escorts...thus how were right into mk1 and mk2's...
A few months ago they bought another mk1, which doesnt need alot of work doing, to get her up to our standards
The car was bought as a non runner cause she was that solid the engine wasnt important...although after a session with my oldskool da and timing sorted she burst into life and sounds sweet as a nut
Shes already got some good mods like being turreted, 6point Safety devices cage and the burton spec x flow..
Our plans are to fit various grp4 and rs parts, seam welding, big gearbox tunnel, skids, anti tramp bars, and so on
Anyways enough of the boring bit, heres the pics and a vid of me trying her out
    The happy new owners

Brings back soem memories eh dad!

    Giving her a wee try...

My dad was working away on her over the weekend and removed the, engine n box, crossmember, front struts, diff etc and got her up on the spit ready for the fun to start!

Will try keep any updates coming

My dad was down the road on Monday and came back with this gear for the mk1...

Had a good productive day on the mk1 today....going to try get her ready for the lakes ...ino
1st of all the job was to cover up my mk2!...mums velvet cutains were whipped off the wall and put on car - Ideal!

When it comes time to paint the mk1 we will push mine out

Next thing on the list was to get the spare mk1 roof we had and mark it up for cutting...were using this to eliminate, the hole where sunroof was in the car...

                        Heres where its going...

Me and pops cutting roof section out...

                        In place...

                        Stitch Welding...

In between me doing this my mum was working on the bonnet tidying it up and giving it a coat of paint and my dad was fitting the new springs...

Once I had welded the sunroof shut it was time for a skin of cataloy and mum was then working under the bonnet, cleaning and painting...

Dad also fitted wcxm and new lsd unit...

I also welded up the new spring hanger skids...

The steering wheel and front anti roll bar and anti dive kit got a lick of paint too...

Things planned for this week are finish roof, paint cab, fit steering rack and front suspension...all going well she will be down on her feet again next week and will be getting a lick o paint!

Been busy over the past few weeks working on mk1 trying to get her ready for the lakes etc...my mk2 hasnt been touched lol
Im getting a bit tired as I feel like iv went through this already not that long ago...which I have with my mk2 lol
Both cars will be well worth all this hard work though and yet be both totally different....mk1 will be a fun machine, which will be aloud to get the odd scratch etc and my mk2 well...im still paranoid about scratching that paint!

We were out working on the mk1 today, dad was off so he managed to prep the mk1 ready for a nice coat of paint in the cab when I got home from work
Heres the pics...will be getting a second coat tomorrow night
After I had sprayed it then we turned our attention to mine and fitted the carbon spoiler and boot badges! will get some pics on my resto

                          All prepped ready for paint...

                          1st Coat of black on....

All things going well the whole car inside and out should be painted by start of next week.
Will keep the updates coming....as it aint long till the lakes!

Heres another wee update on the mk1 which should be at the lakes
                            Weve had another productive weekend...
We have been prepping for paint, then got primer on and yesterday put the coat of white on top half and fronts of car
Really pleased with how shes looking, were still waiting on the white to harden properly then we will get the sides done blue

                            Heres the pics

                            White coat done...

                            Roof looking good...

Things havent changed with my mk2 as we are concentrating on the mk1 for the lakes...Dads doing me a favour though and collecting my seats and grp4 fitment wheels tomorrow as well as his minilights for the mk1. Hopefully get some pics of my wheels on AFX soon...if I get the chance to work on her! lol
