re charged the battery overnight, checked all the plugs were clean / Correctly gapped and that i had a spark to each one, pushed all connections on securely, made sure the tank had plenty of (fresh) petrol and turned her over....................and over..................and over............and over, still nothing doing, took out plugs 3 & 4 and sure enough the plugs were fouled to high heaven, checked the plug leads and sure had a good spark there. I continued to turn her over and over and connected a spare batttery. No way would it fire up, but it almost did a number of times.
By this time i was getting fed up, reached over the engine bay and felt some heat from exhaust manifold pipe 3 and 4, 1&2 were cold to the touch however

Car runs 45' DCOEs, plenty of fuel, plenty of fuel pressure (Twin facett pumps) therefore it had to be the 45 feeding cylinder 1 & 2 ???

yep, the float had stuck closed and therefore cylinders 1 & 2 were "dry" but cylinders 3 & 4 were getting plenty, sods law when i kept taking the plugs out to see if they were wet it was only the plugs on 3 & 4 as they were the nearest to the drivers door and thus easier to check.

it was something this simple all along

glad its all sorted GJ, the last time i had issues with my engine it was something quite similar, the carb feeding cyls 3 & 4 had closed off at the balance bar between carbs thus throwing them out of sync
